The mission of the Franklin County Office of Economic Development is to provide world class customer service to its customers. It will do this by being visionary and creative in providing opportunities for existing business development, attracting new business investments to the County, and supporting the future vitality of the community (residents and businesses) through strengthening and expanding the County’s economic base.
The Economic Development department will build relationships by participating and supporting the efforts of the Roanoke Regional Partnership and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership while focusing on its customers and enhancing communication between the business community and local government to recognize customer needs and requests.
The Economic Development department will strive to create a customer service oriented environment that will attract and retain quality jobs that provide long-term employment opportunities, thereby enhancing the quality of life for its customers.
The Franklin County Office of Economic Development will strive to:
- Achieve a balance in the commercial/industrial and residential tax base
- Facilitate productive dialogue, projects and programs with key regional organization, agencies and institutions
- Be visionary in the creation of an effective and enticing business environment that fosters growth and prosperity of new and existing businesses
- Create new jobs that will maintain a diverse economic base to provide for stability and a broad selection of employment opportunities for all citizens
