Hometown Ice Expands in Franklin County / Rocky Mount

Rocky Mount, VA (November 12, 2015) – Hometown Ice, LLC, a family owned company making and distributing ice throughout Central and Southwest Virginia and parts of North Carolina, recently purchased the former Weaver Mirror building located in the Franklin County-Rocky Mount Industrial Park in Rocky Mount, Virginia as part of their company expansion plan.

“What better way for a family owned, home grown company to celebrate its 25th anniversary, than with a very ambitious expansion! After purchasing one of our local competitors in Patrick County not long ago, we wanted to consolidate keeping all production and distribution that we could right here in Rocky Mount / Franklin County, where it all started.” commented Doug and Karen Arrington, owner/operators of Hometown Ice.

With this expansion, Hometown Ice plans to hire at least three new employees within the next three years. The average hourly wage for these positions will be between $12.00 and $15.00. The company will also make an investment of $1,750,000 in building renovations and equipment as part of this project, in addition to the purchase price of the facility.

Cline Brubaker, Chairman of the Franklin County Board of Supervisors stated, “Franklin County is happy to assist such a valued local business in the expansion of their operations. Hometown Ice has been a wonderful corporate citizen here in Franklin County and we are proud to continue our commitment to helping our existing businesses thrive. On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I wish Mr. Arrington much continued success in this new location.”

“We’re pleased to be able to help local, homegrown businesses expand their market, employment and capacity,” said Rocky Mount Mayor Steven C. Angle. “The Arringtons have worked very hard to build Hometown Ice from the ground up. We’re pleased to extend incentives to industries which add employment, investment and visibility to the Town of Rocky Mount.”

Hometown Ice was assisted by Franklin County and the Town of Rocky Mount with a $40,000 performance grant.
